NDF observed International Day of Disabled People in Nawabshah


Nawabshah Disability Forum (NDF) member Sindh Disability Forum (SDF) and DPI-Pakistan with coordination of National Center of Special Education, Social Welfare Department taken out walk for cause to mark International Day of Disabled People here on Friday. Hundreds of disabled children and Government officials, NGO activists participated in the rally started from DCO office marched various roads and reached at press club.

Addressing on the occasion DO Revenue Zahoor Hussain Gujjar said that disabled people are important part of mainstream society. They are very intelligent and they have proved themselves capable in various competitions. He lauded services of NDF to support disability-cause in the district. He assured possible support from District government Shaheed Benazir Abad.

Administrative Officer Mr. Allah Bux Rajpar said that disabled should not lose hope; they are recognized as equal partner of society. Their 2% job quota will be observed in all the departments as per policy. He condemned discrimination with disabled people.






Mr. Abid Lashari President NDF said that the theme of day was keeping “Keeping the Promise: Mainstreaming Disability in the Millennium Development Goals.” He urged upon Government of Pakistan to include disability in MDGs. He further said Pakistan is signatory of UNCRPD since 2008, now ratification is urged. He said if our country ratifies the UNCRPD then our rights may be secured and legalized. He said there is poor implementation of 2% disabled job quota. NDF president said there is 10% disabled population in the country but they lack representation in the assemblies. They said if Federal Ministry of Special education devolved at provincial level, hundreds of contract disabled employee will be terminated from their services. It was demanded do not terminate disabled employees from Special education ministry.

DO Social Welfare Murad Ali Jamali, Mr. Akhtiar Tunio, Nisar Brohi, Anna Iqbal Bhatti, Ch. Muhammad Akram, Javed Mallah, Zahid Lashari, Asma Munir Arain and others also spoke on the occasion.
