ASHA, Reminded the Promises on Int'l Day of Persons with Disabilities - Pakistan

ASHA observed Int'l Day of Persons with disabilities in Sanghar town with reminding the promises to local government heads. After a rally from ASHA office to Press club Sanghar Representatives of ASHA met with District Coordination Officer (DCO) Sanghar and District Officer (Revnue) Sanghar. Members and well wishers of ASHA participated in rally by walking, wheelchairs, Tri-Cycles and Trikes. At the End of Rally participants of  the rally interviewed by local media. Participants told the media that Government of Pakistan
signed the UNCRPD but hesitant to ratify the UNCRPD and we don't know the reason why government is doing like this? Without ratification of the convention mainstreaming disability in MDGs will remain dream.

After the rally a delegation of ASHA met with District Officer Mr. Moamar Salik Mirza and reminded him promises of district government Sanghar. Mr. Mirza said he remembered all previous activities of ASHA with local government and very soon they will reorganize the friends of people with disabilities forum at district level. He further said that change and transfer of government officer frequently is also a reason that work for people with disabilities not accelerated. He also emphasized on ASHA members that they must remind government officer time by time as work should be crried out. He further said that you are equal like rest of citizen and our government is with you.

Then delegate met with Newly transfered District Coordination Officer Mr. Ahmed Bukhash Khokhar. Mr. Khokhar said that  he is just transfered to Sanghar two days ago. But doors of his office will remain open for people with disabilities. He further said that he know that quota of people with disabilities is not been implemented, he will ensure such job quota must be implemented. He said ASHA delegate to remain in touch and he want to work for people with disabilities during his stay in Sanghar. Delegate of ASHA ensured their full cooperation and provided introductory material of ASHA and briefed about ASHA activities and invited him to visit office of ASHA.
